University of Miami Business School Pathways

If your goal is to join the Business School, we want to help you keep that goal within reach. The University of Miami offers several pathways that allow students to pursue business-focused coursework, gain valuable skills, and even earn a graduate degree in business. Explore the options below and find the pathway that best aligns with your academic and career goals.

Internal Transfer Pathway

Students enrolled in another University of Miami school or college may apply to transfer into Miami Herbert Business School after meeting the following requirements:

  • Complete MTH 161 (Calculus I) with a grade of B or higher Complete at least one semester in residence at the University of Miami
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Complete your final 45 credit hours consecutively and exclusively within the Business School

Please note that depending on your current math placement, you may need to complete prerequisite mathematics coursework before enrolling in MTH 161.

Double Cane Graduate Pathway

Continue your journey at the University of Miami by becoming a Double Cane. The Double Cane Graduate Pathway allows eligible UM students to begin select graduate coursework during their senior year, creating a faster and more cost-effective route to earning a master's degree.

Accelerated Degree Options

Depending on your chosen program, you may be able to:

Complete your bachelor's and master's degrees in approximately 4.5 years

  • Begin graduate coursework during your senior year
  • Accelerate your path to a specialized master's degree
  • Enter the workforce with an advanced credential sooner

Complete your bachelor's and master's degrees in five years (4+1)

  • Earn both degrees in just one additional year after completing your bachelor's degree
  • Enjoy a streamlined admissions process
  • Continue your education without interruption
